Expanding Access for PT Students

Various locations. The Learning and Development team is excited to announce it is expanding its sports and orthopedic residency programs. “This is a real opportunity for us to connect with students, help them develop their clinical skills and influence the next era of physical therapists,” Senior Director of Learning and Development Tom Denninger said. “And we are fortunate to have Jackie Davenport, who already serves as the Orthopedic Residency Director, expand her role to oversee the Sports Residency as well.”

“I’m excited to be a part of the growth of our residency programs beyond the southeast as we offer more advanced learning to those who seek sports and orthopedic specialization in a variety of locations,” Jackie said.

Those opportunities begin August 2024 and now offer students the opportunity to study across ATI’s entire footprint. The Orthopedic Residency program will now offer placement in Seattle, Wash., Greenville, S.C., Boston, Mass., and the Washington D.C. metro area. The Sports Residency will now allow students to study in Birmingham, Ala., Phoenix, Ariz., Chicago, Ill., Baltimore, Md., and Charleston and Greenville, S.C.

The expansion of programs will open positions for ATI therapists who are interested in teaching. “We are creating unique opportunities for our experienced clinicians to serve as faculty and mentors to those residents,” Jackie added. “It’s very exciting.”
