Patients Receive Additional Support Through Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM)
April 2025, ATI Physical Therapy rolled out its Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) across its 900-plus clinic footprint. RTM is an additional service line that expands the patient’s clinical care team as they work towards their therapy goals. It provides seamless communication between patients and a licensed clinician to address questions or concerns and receive additional guidance on home exercises. It also gives the patient added support, allowing the clinician to encourage and celebrate with them as they work through the stages of their recovery.
RTM licensed clinician and “Virtual Care Navigator,” Lauren Lockhart, is enjoying her move out of the clinic and into the remote space to assist patients on what she calls “the home side” of care. “The patients I have worked with appreciate the added level of support,” she said. “Some need help with exercises; others need someone to listen to them. Whatever extra assistance they are looking for, RTM helps them meet that need.”
For example, Lockhart recently assisted a patient experiencing neck pain while performing their home exercises. “I helped the patient make adjustments to minimize their discomfort,” she said. “I also let their physical therapist know about the incident so that they could work through the issue together at their next appointment.”
This instance is only one of many that support our patients in the space between the clinic and their homes. Communication between our physical therapists and RTM specialists provides additional insights into the patient’s plan of care and how to adjust it to the patient’s needs.
At ATI, we support our physical therapists’ personal aspirations and pathways towards clinical success. If your goal is to specialize, our team offers the necessary resources and training to maintain your license while you pursue your own path.
