OSET 2024 is done! …and our leaders were there,…

From September 13-18, members from our executive leadership team were joined by members of our Clinical Excellence team for the annual Orthopaedic Summit Evolving Techniques conference in Las Vegas, NV. While CEO Sharon Vitti spoke with a panel on Investor Day, CGO Scott Gregerson joined HOPCo’s Tom Harte onstage for a discussion on value-based care. ATI’s Clinical Excellence team members were also present, delivering new research on various topics and showcasing our thought leadership in the PT industry.

From Student Observation to Clinic Director: Katie Ecklund Finds…

At ATI, we seek bright, tenacious individuals who are open to possibilities. We pride ourselves on trailblazing career paths for our providers, no matter what road they may travel. Clinic Director Katie Ecklund set out on her own path, starting as a student observer with ATI while at university and continually finding her way back to one of our clinics as a newly designated Clinic Director.

100% Specialty Exam Pass Rate for our 2023 Residency…

Our residents have always been top-notch (i.e., our residency programs have a 96% first-time pass rate), but our 2023 residency graduates stepped up this year: All our 2023 Residency Graduates have passed their Sports and Orthopedic Board examination this year! 

“We are so proud of their hard work during their residency year and the months following to pass this challenging exam,” Clinical Development Program Lead Jackie Davenport said. “A few other clinicians across the country also sat for these board exams in March, and I wish them big congrats.” 

Creating Direct Access and Care Through ONE ATI

In Q1 of 2023, our Sports Medicine team was hard at work piloting the “One ATI Care Pathway.” It was an opportunity to empower our Athletic Trainers to use their expertise as MSK experts and to emphasize what Physical Therapists can do as primary care providers.

Even in the program’s early stages, it showed promise. Over 150 athletes benefitted from the care pathway at the onset, leading to it becoming a permanent fixture in August of 2023.

Introducing the Institute for Musculoskeletal Advancement (iMSKA)

Shaping the Future Generations of Physical Therapists

At ATI, our leadership is dedicated to establishing ATI as a front-runner in MSK care, including an ongoing commitment to clinician development. From our residency and fellowship programs, partnership with the Institute for Musculoskeletal Advancement and much more, our leadership and teams are dedicated to developing the next generation of clinicians. So much so that ATI raffled off a free ticket to this year’s CSM to a student physical therapist.

Expanding Access for PT Students

Various locations. The Learning and Development team is excited to announce it is expanding its sports and orthopedic residency programs. “This is a real opportunity for us to connect with students, help them develop their clinical skills and influence the next era of physical therapists,” Senior Director of Learning and Development Tom Denninger said. “And we are fortunate to have Jackie Davenport, who already serves as the Orthopedic Residency Director, expand her role to oversee the Sports Residency as well.”

ATI’s SVP of Clinical Excellence Chuck Thigpen meets up…

In April, Senior Vice President of Clinical Excellence Dr. Chuck Thigpen sat down with Leo Morgenstern from Just Baseball to discuss pitcher arm health as Major League Baseball ushered in its new pitch clock rule in the article, “Dr. Chuck Thigpen on Arm Health in the Age of the Pitch Clock.” The pair discussed concerns over player adaptation and potential risk for injury, especially for relief and middle-relief pitchers who experience less recovery time than starting pitchers.

Pelvic Health in South Korea

  • October 4, 2023

Kari Melby, MPT, is a clinician who wears many hats. While her primary role is serving as ATI’s Senior Director of Specialty Services, Kari also teaches at multiple universities. In addition, she serves as an instructor with the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Academy of Pelvic Health. Her role with the APTA has taken her all over the country and, recently, internationally – where she traveled to South Korea to share her expertise.
