Taking Care in Chicago Public Schools to a New…
For four years now, ATI Sports Medicine has partnered with Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Our 19 Athletic Trainers span the entire school district, providing athletic training services to 86 high schools and Chicago Public League athletics teams. These ATs bring to life a shared mission with CPS to provide community and equity-based healthcare for all students and families while achieving ATI’s own purpose in making every life an active life.
Their impact is tremendous: the majority of these schools have never had access to Athletic Trainers or their services before.
“Our ATs are providing care, building Sports Medicine programs, and educating our school communities on the type of care they can receive while working with us,” Sports Medicine Manager Eric Bucktold the RoundUp Team. “What this team continues to deliver is beyond expectations, and the results have been incredibly rewarding.”
Since the program’s inception, the amount of patient care provided has more than doubled for reported and treated injuries as well as nearly tripled accessible referral-based services. These team members are making a real difference in Chicago communities. So much so that CPS has agreed to greater support by increasing ATI’s program services and hiring up to 30 athletic trainers for the upcoming school year!
“This program could not sustain its growth and continued success without their selfless, passionate, and empathetic efforts to educate the community and provide innovative access to healthcare. I am in daily admiration of the trust and respect they’ve built within their communities,” Eric added. “Their level of care and commitment to this mission is inspiring, and they continue to raise the bar for equitable athletic training services. It shows what the profession of athletic training is truly about – focusing on patient-centered care for ALL student athletes.”
