The Value of Virtual Physical Therapy

  • October 1, 2025

Telehealth is here to stay. During September’s Telehealth Awareness Week, the ATI team took time to recognize its Telerehab clinicians and how their work benefits patients. Virtual therapy has been proven to be highly effective. Research shows online PT can produce outcomes similar to traditional in-person therapy for a range of musculoskeletal and neurologic problems when care is well-designed and supervised by a clinician.

“Telehealth services are another setting that ATI has been able to provide to the public,” Pritee Dalvi, PT, DPT, MBA, CLSSGB, and Clinic Director – Telerehab, said when asked about what she would want others to know about telehealth and virtual care. “Our skills in evaluation and differential diagnosis are not new in any way. Telehealth is another avenue for us to shine as primary care providers. We should embrace this opportunity and grow our ability to provide care and a public service.”

Since 2020, with the launch of its telehealth platform CONNECT™, ATI has been providing patients with greater access to care and one-on-one virtual treatment in the comfort of their own home. Patients can utilize telehealth throughout their full plan of care or use hybrid care to achieve success by taking advantage of ATI’s large footprint to receive in-clinic treatment when necessary. They can also utilize other digital tools such as ATI’s Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM), which creates the opportunity for our patients to receive real-time virtual coaching and support to help them succeed in between sessions. This digital tool is available to all ATI patients, whether their care plan is remote, hybrid, or in-person.

“Delivering effective care remotely is a skill that requires unique knowledge and competencies,” Telerehab PTA Danielle Matthew offered. “[Virtual Physical Therapy] is not ‘less than’ traditional PT. Telehealth empowers patients, meets them where they are, and delivers truly effective care.”

ATI recognizes and embraces the role of technology in shaping and enhancing the patient experience. It remains committed to using technology to create access and offer care options that allow our patients to be successful. Be part of ATI’s mission and learn more about how you can utilize virtual physical therapy to enhance your practice and improve your patients’ outcomes.
